Kelly has been a life-long fitness enthusiast. Her love affair with yoga began in 2009, when she moved to Thailand with her husband. Despite the language barrier, Kelly learned the yoga postures by strategically positioning herself in front of the mirrors, so she could see the reflection of the other students. Within a few weeks of practicing, she was hooked. After experiencing the extraordinary benefits of yoga, Kelly awakened to a deep realization that she wanted to share yoga with everyone.
Accordingly, when Kelly returned to Chicago in 2010, she received her 200hr yoga teaching certification through Yogaview, under the incredible guidance of Geri Bleier, Claire Mark, Quinn Kearney and Tom Quinn. Additional teachers who have helped Kelly develop her yoga practice both on and off the mat, include Sara Strother, Dorie Silverman, Jessica Carlin and David Duerkop. She is extremely grateful for the opportunities she had to study with master teachers Noah Maze, Sianna Sherman, Amy Ippoliti, Christina Sell, Desiree Rumbaugh, Richard Freeman, and Ana Forrest.
Kelly teaches alignment based vinyasa flow with both Ashtanga and Anusara influences. In her classes, she incorporates some resistance, endurance and strength training principles. Utilizing breath, music, mindful sequencing, and humor, Kelly employs a challenging, yet playful, teaching style.
